Knowing the type of allergy one suffers from helps because then the proper precautions and medication can be taken. With asthma sufferers, make sure they bring along their inhalers and you too, should know where these are kept. In case of emergencies, you’ll be able to find them. Bring anti-histamines - non-sedative and those without steroids. For those allergic to feather pillows that are used in many hotels, you can request for synthetic ones. These days, many hotels have allergy-free rooms but if you cannot afford one, then the next best thing is to ask for the synthetic pillows. Also check what type of foods your family members are allergic to, like seafood, meat, fruit and peanuts. For those allergic to pollen and dust, stay clear of parks while for those with severe sinus problems, make sure the air-conditioning is not too cold and that they are not exposed to too much dust. Mild allergies usually settle in a day or two while the more severe ones can take up to a few days. Also, check where the nearest clinics or hospitals are located, preferably those closest to the hotel or resort you are staying in. With proper planning, those will allergies can still enjoy their holidays to the fullest.
