Service-oriented architecture on open source

SUN Microsystems has announced the latest version of its flagship service-oriented architecture (SOA) and business integration software. Java Composite Application Platform Suite 6 (Java CAPS 6) enables users to leverage on existing and new IT investments to create an infrastructure that is more agile and better aligned with the needs of their organisations.

Sun’s vice president, marketing, software infrastructure Mark Herring said Java CAPS 6 is a result of Sun’s collaboration with the open source community, so the software is modular and not vendor locked-in.

Sun also released a new Master Data Management (MDM) suite, a high-performance and unified solution that gives users a single view of their customer data and help them effectively manage customer relationships.

Java CAPS 6 is the first SOA platform by a major technology provider built on open source through the Open ESB community at http://open-esb.dev.java.net.

The Java CAPS 6, ESB and MDM suites can be bought on a subscription or licensing basis. Pricing depends on the type of licence and the nature of support. For details, visit www.sun.com/soa/ or www.sun.com/mdm/.
