New products, new resolutions
Prasanna Raman

TIME flies by very fast and many people would say that 2007 did come to an end rather quickly. It’s the new year again and resolutions are the most commonly discussed subject in many conversations.

Making more money, losing weight or getting married – these are some of the most common resolutions that have never changed over the years.

But learning new technology is something that has joined the resolutions list in the past five years or so. Today, as the use of tech gadgets become more pervasive, learning to use new gadgets is among the top on many people’s list.

Those who’ve yet to master the use of the PC other than just for word processing or Internet surfing may want to learn ways to store photos, music and even copy and burn CDs and DVDs.

And once that’s been

mastered, they may want to start editing their photos and videos to show their creative skills.

Then it’s time to venture further and post those creative works online for people to view.

And the next step will be to create blogs or even Web sites to share your thoughts.

For those who want to get organised, there are many Web sites that offer free downloadable organisers to help you stay organised.

Some organisers can be viewed online and even shared with multiple users so that family members can gain access to important dates, appointments, reminders or to-do lists.

Another way to better manage your finances is to put all your financial information together on a financial planner online. Get a clear overview of your savings and investments with just one look. Find a secure site that offers privacy, though some banks do offer this sort of an organiser.

In addition to the PC, users can get a smartphone – which is a combination of a phone and a personal digital assistant to work more

efffectively and efficiently. Send and receive your e-mails, get your paperwork done and stay organised, all on this little mobile wonder.

And of course, there are many more gadgets that we could get to know better to be put for good use. What’s on your resolutions list?
