Samsung brings in music phones
Aimie Pardas

A trio of music mobile phones make up Samsung’s Live Loud platform, which gives music lovers a fully functional phone as well as extra music features.

The three models are the SGH-i450, SGH-F330 and SGH-F250.

Samsung Malaysia Electronics Sdn Bhd’s sales and marketing director, mobile phones marketing Alex Wong pointed out that it is no longer just about using the mobile phone to play back music files, so the new phones come with specific features to enhance the music listening experience.

“Each phone has specific features and a different design and look. They are also different, price-wise,” he said, so “users can make the most out of their musical and mobile experience.”

The SGH-i450 has speakers developed by Bang & Olufsen, a 3.5-millimetre headphone jack, touch wheel navigation and a dual slider design.

Slide down the handset and the music player will be activated, plus the touch wheel navigation and ICEpower amplifier will be revealed. Slide up the handset and it becomes a smartphone featuring Symbian S60 Third Edition and High Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) connectivity.

The SGH-F330 is another music slider capable of playing music for up to 18 hours. It comes with music hotkeys on the front and sides and is pre-installed with Windows Media Digital Rights Management.

The model even supports FM radio with Radio Data System. This allows information such as the station ID, radio show name, song title and artiste name to be shown while you’re listening to radio.

Like the SGH-i450, the SGH-F330 is an HSDPA phone, with a two-megapixel camera and Micro Secure Digital (SD) card slot.

Then there is the SGH-F250, which is the most affordable Live Loud music-edition phone among the three models. It comes with dedicated music playback navigation keys on the front.

The tri-band global system for mobile communications (GSM)/enhanced data rates for global evolution (EDGE) slider model also comes with a 1.3-megapixel camera, FM radio, a metallic keypad and MicroSD slot.

The RM799 SGH-F250 and RM1,399 SGH-F330 are already available while the RM1,599 SGH-i450 is expected to be made available this week.
