According to T.Y. Ko, managing director and chief executive officer of LG Electronics (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, the new models offer a mere glimpse into a newly emerging trend in the mobile market.

“LG is confident of success in the technology-centred competition. By incorporating highly in-demand features such as mobile Internet and e-mail services, and enhancing our products with innovative technologies that include HSDPA (high-speed downlink packet access) technology and touchscreen applications, we will gain the competitive edge,” he said.

The winner of the 2008 iF product design award, the KF600 is housed in black crystal finish with semi-reflective dual screen. The slider model offers Bluetooth connectivity, three-megapixel camera with image stabiliser and 40 gigabytes of internal memory expandable via built-in micro Secure Digital card slot.

The KF600’s unique attribute is its intuitive design and user interface, featuring the InteractPad that replaces physical buttons while the virtual navigation keys that feed-forward menus are tailored to fit the task at hand. The keys are also larger and better spaced than physical keys to improve accuracy.

LG’s HSDPA-enabled KS20 marks LG’s first foray into the Windows-based smartphone category by incorporating the Microsoft Windows Mobile 6 that supports broadband mobile Internet feature. Users will appreciate its support for WLAN 802.11b/g, broadband mobile Internet, fast music download, seamless video streaming and push e-mail capability.

The PDA phone offers a 2.8-inch touchscreen with natural handwriting recognition and touch input, two-megapixel auto-focus camera, Bluetooth and MP3 player. The model is equipped with 128MB internal memory and a slot for MicroSD card.
