Siti Syameen Md Khalili

SAMSUNG Malaysia Electronics Sdn Bhd aims to retain its lead in the local liquid crystal display (LCD) monitor market with 12 new models ranging from 17- to 70-inch options to suit multiple consumer groups. Capitalising on enhanced design and rich feature set, the new models offer faster response time, better contrast ratio and low power consumption.

According to Samsung Malaysia Electronics’ managing director and chief executive officer Min Yong Ho, Samsung will continue to strengthen its presence in the Malaysian market, with aims to increase its market share in LCD monitor by 10 per cent.

“Samsung is uniquely positioned to deliver best-in-class displays and set new benchmarks with the new monitors,” he said, citing two of its T series wide-screen monitors, the T220 and T240, which feature a high dynamic ratio of 20,000:1 plus Samsung’s proprietary Touch of Colour design technology for added elegance.

The T series models, which will be made available in Rose Black and Sapphire Black, are targeted at consumers looking for premium design and the latest technology in a display. With support for full high-definition (HD) 1,080p standard, this series is equipped with high-definition multimedia interface, a DTV tuner, multiple connectivity options and an invisible speaker system.

For mainstream consumers, Samsung has the Aqua series model 2253BW, McKinley series (743N, 943N, 943NW, 943BW, 2043BW, 2243BW and 2243NW) and Lime series (225UW).

The Lime series model 225UW 22-inch wide-screen monitor also comes with a two-megapixel Web camera and multimedia speakers. Other features on board this model are 1,860 by 1,050 pixels at 16:10 aspect ratio, and universal serial bus, DVI-D and analogue interfaces.

For professional users, Samsung is offering the Hubble 245B Plus. With a 24-inch wide-screen, the model provides 178/178-degree viewing angle, 1,920 by 1,200 pixels resolution and MagicSpectrum technology to deliver photo-realistic images.

Samsung also brought in the 70-inch Beethoven Plus large-format LCD monitor 700DXn, which supports 1,920 by 1,080 full HD standard. The Beethoven Plus series also features a 40-inch model, the 400DXn.

“With the increasing use and appeal of digital signage applications, opportunities for large-format monitors are enormous in Malaysia’s expanding retail and corporate markets,” Min said.
