IN the breezy blue-and-white dining room of Delicious at Marc Service Residence, just a stone’s throw away from Suria KLCC, a group of well-groomed women paraded the latest collection from Ms Read.

What’s delightful was the fact that the models were not the usual stick-thin willows you’d see sashaying down runways but were women with measurements I can relate to, showing off clothes that I can see myself in. In other words, real women in real clothes.

Welcome to the Ms Read Spring-Summer 2008 Collection. There were some classic looks from the Ms Read Classic Spring Collection. This covers their career line expressed in smartly cut suits, fashioned from cottons, poly blend suiting, georgette and matte jersey, in shades of white, black and gray. The must-have prints this season are bold and beautiful and certainly not for the shrinking violet.

The keynote of this collection is versatility, which is perfect for the woman on the move to look good on the job and off.
The Ms Read Woman look this season is all about balance. Patterns, prints, embellishments are combined in the most unusual way to achieve a balance of relaxed and refined femininity.

The spring garden provides inspiration — think vibrant colours of petals, flowers, green fronds, garden fountains and gentle streams giving rise to the palette used in the collection.

Some designs will give your sweeter side this year an opportunity to express itself — with tiered dresses and Empire waistlines. Sleeveless dresses can be worn with or without a pair of jeans; it’s up to each individual to stamp her mark on this spring staple.

Sleeves are a strong feature in this collection and a few of the tops display a variation of sleeves: short puff, lantern, bat-wing as well as kimono inspired sleeves.
