PETALING JAYA: The Christmas train will be pulling into the PJ Hilton soon, hoping to raise RM180,000 for 25 orphanages around the country.
A 58-square-metre landscape has been created by about 20 students and lecturers of the School of Architecture & Built Environment at University College Sedaya International (UCSI).
The landscape features 10 G-scale trains (22.5 times smaller than the train they represent) chugging through a landscape of bustling roads, cars, homes, shops and people running errands just before the holidays.
The full-scale model will be displayed in the lobby of the hotel from Dec 6 to Jan 10.
Corporations can take up advertising space on the trains and in other parts of the display.
"The Hilton Christmas Train brings together different parties from corporate clients, customers and suppliers to raise funds for the underprivileged.
"And since last year it has become an excellent platform to nurture young talents with the involvement of students in conceptualising and assembling the train display," said general manager Luc Bollen.
This is the second year the hotel is working with students of design, and the first time it has worked with UCSI.
Some of the money collected will also be used for the hotel's "Gongxi Deeparayamas" event on Dec 6.
