Cassandra Yong wasn’t born into a musical family, nor did she have the advantage of music lessons at an early age. Her parents were busy adjusting to their first taste of parenthood whilst balancing careers and a household. It wasn’t until age six that Cassandra had her first music lesson. When she was eight, her young violin teacher Maya Musayeva heard her play the piano and referred her to a piano pedagogue. Thereon she embarked on a bumpy yet rewarding journey to become an accomplished pianist that she is today.
