IPOH: When Daisy Rani George Davies, 46, was at home in Persiaran Rishah 4, Taman Silibin waiting for her son on Tuesday, he was being assaulted with a hammer, tied up with a rope and left to die in a house one street away in Persiaran Rishah 2.

During the funeral of Paul Nathan, 22, at their home yesterday, she held on to the shoulders of her son as they were about to close his casket, her silent tears giving way to loud sobs.

Aran Pakinathan, a 53-year-old headmaster at a nearby Tamil school, said his son, a contractor, had dreams of becoming a developer.

Recounting Tuesday's events, he said Paul left to attend to some renovation work at his house, promising to return at 9am to take Daisy for a medical check-up.

When he did not show up, calls were made to his handphone. Pakinathan said when the calls went unanswered, his 16-year-old son Daniel decided to look for him.
"He climbed the gate of the house at 11.30am and called me when he saw blood on the walls and the kitchen floor. I rushed there from work and arrived at noon," he said.

Paul's body was found in a bedroom. Pakinathan said his son's watch, bracelet and chain, worth RM10,000, were missing.

Perak CID chief SAC II Ismail Yatim said Paul was killed between 10am and 11.30am and that police would be arresting a suspect soon.
