KUALA LUMPUR: The Royal Malaysian Police celebrates 50 years of being conferred the "royal" title today.
The country's first Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Tuanku Abdul Rahman Ibni Almarhum Tuanku Muhammad, had conferred the royal title on the force, previously known as the Police Force of the Federated Malay States, in honour of its members' contribution to people and country.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Musa Hassan said the police had always been in the front line in safeguarding the country's peace and order.
"This can be seen through the success of the force in crippling subversive activities such as the communists and militant groups." -- Bernama
