Three nomination papers were received for the Kuala Terengganu by-election when nomination ended at 10am.
Barisan Nasional's Datuk Wan Ahmad Farid Wan Salleh was first to submit his papers at 9.13am followed by Pas' Mohd Abdul Wahid Endut at 9.18am.
Two minutes before nomination closed, Azharuddin Mamat, 56, a businessman, entered to the centre to submit his paper as an independent candidate.
Wan Farid was proposed by Kuala Terengganu Umno deputy division chief Mohd Sabri Alwi and seconded by MCA advisor Senator Datuk Wong Foon Meng; while Abdul Wahid was proposed by Pas State commissioner Datuk Mustafa Ali and seconded by former Bandar State Assemblyman Azmi Lop Yusof.
Azharuddin was proposed by businessmen Ahmad Affendy Syah Mamat Ibrahim and seconded by Zakaria Abdullah.
About 15 minutes after nomination closed, policemen from the Federal Reserve Unit moved in to disperse the Pakatan Rakyat crowd who entered a health clinic within the Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital located across the nomination centre.
Earlier, another independent candidate Harun Muhamad changed his mind about contesting upon entering the nomination centre.
He said it was a last minute decision and would now throw his support behind the Pas candidate.
