NATIONAL junior Low Wee Wern stunned Australian Amelia Pittock to join national No 3 Delia Arnold in the women's qualifying finals at the World Open in Manchester on Sunday.
Wee Wern, ranked 52nd in the world, needed only 29 minutes to upset World No 39 Amelia 11-9, 11-3, 11-8 in the first qualifying round while Delia eased past Lucie Fialova of the Czech Republic 11-5, 11-4, 12-10.
"It was a good match with a lot of close rallies. I just tried to be patient so I was pleased with that, it's one of my best wins," said Wee Wern, 18, who played England's Suzie Pierrepont late yesterday for a place in the main draw.
Delia too was delighted to get through to the qualifying finals against former junior rival Joshna Chinappa of India in her maiden appearance at the world tournament.
