KUALA LUMPUR: Media Prima Berhad's television and radio stations will dedicate airtime to cover the crisis in Gaza.

The coverage also serves to raise awareness on the "Fund for Gaza" by New Straits Times Press (M) Bhd.

"We are saddened by the turn of events in Palestine.

"Many families have been affected and made homeless in the attacks, while supplies in hospitals and food are running low.

"In light of this, we would like to join our associate company, NSTP, in encouraging the public and corporations to contribute to the Fund for Gaza to ease the suffering of the victims," said Media Prima chairman Datuk Abdul Mutalib Mohamed Razak.
More than 631 Palestinians have been killed and 2,700 people, including women and children, wounded since the Israeli attacks began on Dec 27.

The Fund for Gaza has received about RM250,000 in pledges.

The two biggest donors so far are Berjaya Corporation Bhd chairman Tan Sri Vincent Tan, who donated RM150,000, and educationist Tan Sri Lim Kok Wing, who contributed RM50,000.

AirAsia CEO Datuk Seri Tony Fernandes, Datuk Simon Foong of Aqua Walk Sdn Bhd, Datuk Ilyas Mohamed of Cartrade group of companies and Barisan Nasional Youth Sarawak each donated RM10,000.

Donations to the fund, which will be open until Feb 7, will be handed to Wisma Putra to help the people of Gaza.

To contribute to the NSTP Fund for Gaza, the public and corporations can do the following:

- Bank in or transfer money to Maybank account number 514105-320501 under the name "NSTP Fund for Gaza";

- Write cheques made payable to The New Straits Times Press (M) Bhd with the words "Fund for Gaza" written on the reverse side and send to NSTP, Balai Berita, 31, Jalan Riong, 59100 Kuala Lumpur; or

- Make cash donations to the cashier at NSTP, Balai Berita, 31 Jalan Riong, Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur or any of the NSTP branch offices nationwide.
