SARIKEI: A group of ferry workers were startled to find a partially decomposed body floating in the Sian River here.
Meradong district police chief Deputy Superintendent Sekam Anoi said they received a report about the discovery of the body from the ferry workers around 10am yesterday and immediately deployed officers along with several personnel to the location.
He said there was a missing person report in Sibu, and a body identification process was attempted by the complainant.
"However, the identification failed because the body was decomposed and swollen," he said in a statement today.
Sekam added the investigation would continue by taking DNA samples to determine the identity of the deceased.
