In addition to the entire states of Perlis and Melaka, the agency announced in a Facebook post that weather warnings are also in effect in Kelantan, specifically in the areas of Jeli, Kuala Krai, and Gua Musang, as well as in Bentong and Temerloh in Pahang.
In Selangor, the warning covers the Hulu Langat district; in Negri Sembilan (Jelebu, Seremban, Port Dickson, Kuala Pilah, and Rembau); and in Tangkak and Muar in Johor.
"The warning in Sarawak covers Kuching (Bau and Kuching), Sri Aman (Sri Aman), Betong (Pusa, Betong, and Saratok), Sarikei (Pakan and Julau), Sibu (Sibu and Selangau), and Miri (Telang Usan and Marudi).
"The warning is issued when there are signs indicating thunderstorms with rainfall intensity exceeding 20 millimeters (mm) per hour that are expected to last for an hour or more.
"A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning that is valid for a period not exceeding six hours for each issuance," the statement said.
