Azam Baki to continue as MACC chief commissioner [UPDATED]

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian Anti-Corruption Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki will continue to serve as the country's top graft buster.

In a statement, Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Mohd Zuki Ali said Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, has consented to Azam's reappointment as MACC Chief Commissioner for one year.

Azam was appointed to lead the anti-graft body in 2020, replacing Latheefa Koya. His contract was extended for one year last year.

His contract was set to expire on May 12.

Prior to becoming the chief commissioner, Azam had served as MACC's deputy chief commissioner (operations) for four years since 2016.
