[Updated] KKB polls: Ramasamy should help residents if opposition candidate wins - Ramanan

HULU SELANGOR: A member of parliament wants United Rights of Malaysian Party (Urimai) president P. Ramasamy to be held accountable if voters choose a candidate who is not from the government in the Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election.

PKR deputy information chief (1) Datuk R. Ramanan questioned if Ramasamy would lend a hand if a 'non-government' candidate wins the election.

"I have witnessed this scenario numerous times, where after winning (the election), and not being the state government, they will claim that they lack allocation.

"Will Ramasamy assist them during such times? I am asking him.

"But when issues arise, Ramasamy must engage with the residents and solve the problems, can he?" Ramanan, who is also the Sungai Buloh member of parliament, told reporters after the Vanakam Madani programme here today.

Also present was the Special Officer to the Selangor Menteri Besar for the Indian Community Dr Gunaraj George.

Ramanan said if any of the voters were swayed by Ramasamy's advice, they should seek help from him.

Ramanan's response was prompted by calls from P. Ramasamy, the interim council chairman of Urimai, urging voters in Kuala Kubu Baharu to boycott Pakatan Harapan.

Ramasamy, who is the former Penang deputy chief minister, said this serves as a lesson to Putrajaya for continuously breaking promises to the people.
