Choose wisely, Azalina tells Kuala Kubu Baharu voters

HULU SELANGOR: Voters in Kuala Kubu Baharu were reminded to choose wisely in the upcoming by-election on May 11.

Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Law and Institutional Reform) Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said emphasised that voters must select their representative carefully, as they will work hand-in-hand to bring progress to the constituency with their new elected representative.

"Starting from May 12, they (the voters in Kuala Kubu Baharu) will 'live' with the representative of their choice.

"Therefore, I hope they will make the best decision.

"The Selangor government is under Pakatan Harapan, and with a leader from the coalition, there will be more development here," she told reporters after a session with PH and Barisan Nasional machinery today. Also present was PH candidate Pang Sock Tao.

Meanwhile, when asked about Pang, Azalina said she gave her some advice, urging her to focus on local issues.

"I told her that to be an effective assemblyman, she must focus on local issues and not deceive the people by making promises that we don't fulfill after winning.

"Kuala Kubu Baharu is known as one of the well-known tourism areas. Therefore, she should concentrate on local issues, including tourism and traders."

Asked if she is confident that Pang will win the by-election, Azalina said: "InsyaAllah, if that is what the voters in Kuala Kubu Baharu want.

"If they seek progress, continuity, and a voice aligned with the state and federal government."

The Election Commission (EC) fixed May 11 for the by-election following Lee Kee Hiong's death on March 21.

The state seat would be contested by Pang, Perikatan Nasional's candidate Khairul Azhari Saut, Hafizah Zainudin of Parti Rakyat Malaysia (PRM) and Nyau Ke Xin, who is contesting as an independent.
