Ong's political secretary resigns
2009/11/21
KUALA LUMPUR: MCA president Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat's political secretary, Simon Lim, has quit his post due to "personal commitments".
In denying his resignation has anything to do with the recent political developments in MCA or any differences with Ong, Lim said he was resigning to spend more time with his family and to focus on his work as a lawyer.
There had been speculations that Lim was quitting in protest against Ong's decision to revamp the presidential council, which saw the removal of nine leaders including Youth chief Datuk Dr Wee Ka Siong and Wanita head Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun.
Lim said he had submitted his resignation letter to Ong on Nov 19.
A copy was also forwarded to prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak. It will take effect from Dec 1.
"I submitted my letter to Ong," he told the New Straits Times.
