Fund gets RM50,000 boost from ruler

2009/11/24

KUALA LUMPUR: The Sultan of Pahang, Sultan Ahmad Shah, last night contributed RM50,000 to Tabung Bencana NSTP-Media Prima.
The fund also received RM10,000 from Badan Amal Kasih Sayang (Bakasa) Malaysia, represented by its chairman Tengku Puteri Seri Teja Pahang Tengku Muhaini Sultan Ahmad Shah.

Media Prima Bhd Group managing director Datuk Amrin Awaluddin received the donations at the 8th Islamic Fashion Festival (IFF) 2009.

Tabung Bencana NSTP-Media Prima was set up to help Typhoon Ketsana survivors in Vietnam and the Philippines, tsunami survivors in Samoa and earthquake survivors in Padang, Indonesia.

The IFF brought together the best in Islamic fashion creativity and provided numerous opportunities for networking and business partnerships. The IFF also supports Bakasa.

Earlier, in a video greeting, the prime minister's wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, who is IFF patron, said the event was well received by fashion enthusiasts.

"We must redouble our efforts to move forward. It's a challenge to us, but as the saying goes, no gain without pain," she said.

Rosmah also called on those in the fashion industry to be creative and committed in order to attain international recognition.

"We must strive harder to make IFF the most celebrated event in the fashion calendar," she added.

Last night saw four fashion designers -- Galia Galadari, Nadia Chawad, Datuk Tom Abang Saufi and Itang Yunasz -- showcasing their colourful creations.
