Similarities in pawn shop burglaries

KANGAR: Police believe the RM8 million heist at the Ar-Rahnu pawn shop in Taman Sena here may have been committed by the same burglars who hit a pawn shop in Kelantan last year. District police chief Superintendent Abdul Rahman Mohd Noordin said the modus operandi in both cases was the same.

"We will also investigate whether the case in Perlis was an inside job," he said yesterday.

More than RM7.7 million in jewellery and RM68,000 in cash went missing from the pawn shop when burglars broke in between midnight and 11am on Sunday.
