Rain warning in Kelantan, Terengganu increased to orange

KUALA LUMPUR: The rain warning for all districts in Kelantan and Terengganu has been upgraded to orange stage with moderate monsoon rain expected to continue until next week, according to a statement by the Malaysian Meteorological Department.
According to the orange stage warning, there will be moderate monsoon rain for the next few hours.

Heavy rain is expected to continue until Wednesday and may cause floods in low-lying areas near river banks.

In Pahang, intermittent occasionally heavy rain is expected to continue until Tuesday in the districts of Jerantut, Kuantan, Pekan, Maran and Rompin.

The condition is also expected in Perak (Hulu Perak, Larut and Matang districts) and Kedah, in the districts of Sik, Baling, Kubang Pasu, Padang Terap, Kota Setar and Pendang until tomorrow.

In Perlis, a similar condition is also expected and will continue until Wednesday.

The warning on the northeasterly winds of 50-80kmph with waves of up to 4.5m over waters off Condores, which is expected to continue until tomorrow, has been upgraded to second category.

This condition of strong winds and rough seas is dangerous to all shipping and coastal activities, including fishing and ferry services, said the department.

Strong northeasterly winds of 40-50kmph with waves up to 3.5m over the waters of Samui in Kelantan dan Terengganu, Reef North, Layang-Layang, Palawan and Kudat in north Sabah is expected until Tuesday.

This condition is dangerous to small crafts, recreational sea activities and sea sports.

Thunderstorm over waters off Langkawi, Kedah, Perak, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka, Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang, Sabah (Kudat and Sandakan) and Sulu is expected to persist until noon today.

The condition can cause strong winds up to 40kmph and rough seas with waves up to 2.5m, a condition which is dangerous to small boats.
