Woman held captive, allegedly raped by welfare association president

KUALA LUMPUR, Sat: The police have rescued a woman who was tricked into staying with a welfare association president and his 'mother' at a condominium unit, only to end up allegedly raped and assaulted by the man. Following a tip-off from a neighbour, a police team found the 28-year-old victim and eight-year-old at the unit in Pandah Indah about 10am yesterday.

The neighbour was alerted by the victim -- who is in the midst of obtaining a divorce -- when the man went to perform his Aidiladha prayers yesterday.

The police have arrested a 38-year-old suspect to facilitate investigations into the alleged rape and assault.

The suspect, who has three criminal records, has been remanded for four days, beginning today. - Bernama
