KUALA TERENGGANU, Sun: Eleven members of the Laguna Gong Batu Fish Breeders Association (PPILGB) suffered losses amounting to almost RM1 million after their caged garoupa died because of the floods that hit Terangganu.
PILGB deputy chairman Johari Awang said garoupa were saltwater fish and were unable to survive when floods ravaged the cages they were being bred in along estuaries.
The fish were in the process of maturing and were meant to be sold duringthe Chinese New Year festive season, he told Bernama here today.
He urged the state government to look into their plight as people involved in the fish breeding industry were severely affected by the floods. - Bernama
