GEORGE TOWN: Three families are appealing for financial aid for their children's heart operations at the Gleaneagles Medical Centre here.
One-week-old Hew Bing Heng requires heart surgery, which is expected to cost about RM50,000.
His father, Hew Yoon Hau, 30, is a welder in Butterworth while his mother, Low Hui Cheng, 24, is a clerk. They earn RM2,400 a month.
"We do not have any savings to pay for our son's surgery and hope the public will help us," Hew said.
Ten-month-old Muhammad Hafiz Mohd Daud needs an operation for a heart problem, which is expected to cost about RM35,000.
His father, Mohd Daud Ahmad, 35, is a fisherman in Kedah. He earns RM450 a month while his mother, Kalsom Mohamad Isa, 31, is a housewife.
The couple have four other children, aged 6 to 15.
Three-year-old Najwa Nazihah Ridzal Sham also has a heart problem and needs surgery costing about RM32,000.
Her father Ridzal Sham Abd Rahman, 42, is an odd-job worker and earns RM600 a month. Her mother, Nor Hadiza Zakaria, 33, is a housewife.
They have three other children, aged 3 to 14.
