Teacher detained over pupil's molest claim

2009/11/21

BUTTERWORTH: A primary school teacher was arrested for allegedly molesting a Year Two pupil at the music room of a school here on Tuesday.
The 47-year old teacher from a school in Seberang Prai Selatan, was arrested on Thursday and has been remanded for five days. He was alleged to have undressed the 8-year-old girl and performed oral sex on her.

State Criminal Investigation Department chief Senior Assistant Commissioner II Wan Abdullah Tuanku Said said the girl told police the teacher asked her to meet him at the music room after recess.

"She claimed the teacher then undressed and fondled her before performing oral sex on her," he said, adding that the teacher then warned her not to tell anyone of the matter. The girl eventually told her mother who then lodged a police report.

State Education Department director Ibrahim Mohamad said he would wait for complete investigations before taking further action.
