2009/11/10

KUANTAN: The High Court has fixed April 5 to 16 next year for the trial of a lorry driver charged with trafficking in 978.015kg of syabu, estimated to be worth RM254.3 million.

Judicial commissioner Datuk Mariana Yahya also fixed Dec 7 for mention after J. Kuldeep Kumar, representing Lee Yong Toe, told the court yesterday that his client wanted to appoint two more lawyers.

Lee, 48, of Taman Iskandar, Johor Baru, is alleged to have committed the offence, with another person still at large, at Km3 Jalan Cenderawasih here at 6.45am on May 2.

Deputy public prosecutors Kalmizah Salleh and Heng Yen Loo appeared for the prosecution.
