LANGKAWI: Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin today reminded MIC president Datuk Seri G. Palanivel to stick to the formula laid by Barisan Nasional (BN) leadership in resolving the party's internal crisis for the sake of the Indian community.
Muhyiddin stressed that Palanivel and MIC leaders should respect the agreement they reached with BN chairman Datuk Seri Najib Razak to hold a fresh election instead of going against their own words.

ALOR STAR: A furniture factory and a heavy machinery workshop in Jalan Kodiang-Padang Sera, Jitra were completely destroyed in a fire this evening.
A spokesman with the state Fire and Rescue Department said 22 firemen in five fire engines from Jitra and Arau stations were dispatched to the scene after receiving a distress call at 6.47pm.

ALOR STAR: Kedah Football Association (KFA) has expressed its dismay on the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) decision over the tussle for national midfielder Gary Steven Robbat.
Its president Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir in lamenting the decision said FAM had set a bad precedence by going against its own rules by denying KFA's claim on the player.

ALOR STAR: Three flights to Sultan Abdul Halim Airport here this morning were diverted to Penang International Airport due to bad weather.
The flights involved were Malaysia Airlines MH1202 and AirAsia AK6012, both from Kuala Lumpur and a Malindo Air OD1508 flight from Subang which were scheduled to arrive here at 8.05am, 8.10am and 8.40am respectively.
A Malaysia Airports Holding Bhd spokesman said all the flights had been diverted to Penang due to misty weather.

Kedah Football Association (KFA) president Datuk Seri Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah said besides retaining the Malaysia Cup, the squad will also be vying for the Super League title and the FA Cup.
The state’s golden years in the 1990s was revived after winning treble for two consecutive years during the 2007 and 2008 seasons.

SUNGAI PETANI: Education Ministry today reminded primary school administrators nationwide not to reject outright application from stateless children to enrol into their respective school.
Instead, they should refer the matter to the District Education Office (PPD) or the state Education Department instead if they are unsure.
Its Deputy Minister Datuk P. Kamalanathan said this is in accordance with a circular issued by the ministry in 2009 concerning stateless children in the country.

KANGAR: Two rivers in Perlis reached their ‘warning’ level this morning following several hours of continuous downpour yesterday.
As of 6am today, Sungai Jarum’s water level reading was 33.4 metres, 0.1 metre above the warning level, with a rising trend detected.
Sungai Chuchoh also showed a rising trend, with the latest water level measurement at 37.88 metres, which is 0.08 metre above the warning level.
The reading at Sungai Repoh slightly exceeded the normal level of 4 metres, with the current reading at 4.42m.
