GOH V Shem-Tan Wee Kiong defeated Bodin Isara-Nipitphon Phuangphuapet of Thailand in the Denmark Open final for their first ever Super Series Premier victory, in Odense today.
The fourth seeds bounced back from a first game blemish to overcome the unseeded Thai pair 14-21,22-20, 21-19 in 61 minutes.
It was their third career title in the circuit after the US Open GP last December and the Syed Modi International Championships GP Gold in January.
The Olympic silver medallists will play in the French Open next week.

PETALING JAYA: National coach Ong Kim Swee reacted to personal attacks positively today, as the former international stated that ‘outside distractions’ will not deter him from preparing a formidable team for next month’s AFF Cup.
“These accusations will not stop me from doing my job. I have been facing these issues since the day I became the national coach,” said Kim Swee at Wisma FAM in Kelana Jaya today.
On Friday, Darul Ta’zim owner Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim questioned Kim Swee’s coaching ability and alleged that his appointment was not based on merit.

KUALA LUMPUR: Top seed Lee Chong Wei is expected to battle Lin Dan in an epic men’s singles semi-final clash at the Rio Olympic Games next month.
In the last two Olympic Games in Beijing (2008) and London (2012), Lin Dan dashed Chong Wei’s gold medal dream by winning both finals.
The winner of the likely semi-final match is expected to battle reigning world champion and second seed Chen Long of China in the final for the gold medal.

KUALA LUMPUR: Darul Ta’zim will play Premier League side PKNS in the first ever all-club FA Cup final on May 14.
Reigning AFC Cup winners Darul Ta’zim edged Kedah 4-3 on aggregate after a 3-1 win over the former champions in the return leg at Larkin Stadium today.
In Ipoh, PKNS became the first second tier club to make the final since Sime Darby in 2012 after they edged Perak 2-1 for a 4-3 aggregate victory.

KUALA LUMPUR: Lee Chong Wei recorded his 11th career win over Lin Dan when the World No 2 edged the two-time Olympic champion 22-20, 15-21, 21-4 in the men’s singles semi-finals of the Asia Badminton Championships in Wuhan today.
Chong Wei bounced back from a 20-17 deficit with five straight points to take the first game. However, Lin Dan tightened his game and won the second to take the match into a deciding game.

KUALA LUMPUR: Darul Ta'zim owner Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim is currently in negotiations to buy Italian side AC Milan.
In an exclusive interview with Singapore's Straits Times, Tunku Ismail, who is the Regent of Johor, said he is looking to buy Italian club AC Milan.
"I'm planning to buy AC Milan but we'll see how it goes. I love Milan and I have always loved Italian clubs since I was young... The (focus) is always JDT but if I can buy a club in Europe it'll be AC Milan," said Tunku Ismail today.

GOH V Shem-Tan Wee Kiong’s goal of winning a second international title turned to ash after they were ousted in the quarter-finals of the German Open today.
The World No 16 lost 22-20, 23-21 to sixth seeds Ko Sung Hyun-Shin Baek Cheol in a tight match . It was the South Koreans first win over the Malaysians in four meetings.
V Shem-Wee Kiong blew away an 11-4 lead to concede the first game and again squandered a 20-16 lead in the second to hand the World No 9 victory.

KUALA LUMPUR: Cheong Jun Hoong will join Wendy Ng at the Olympics after the diver finished eighth in the preliminary round of the women's 3m springboard individual in the World Cup in Rio today.
The Malaysian posted 320.15 to make the semi-finals. The top 18 after the preliminary round get automatic Olympic slots.
Jun Hoong will challenge for medals later today.
Teammate Wendy earned her Olympic ticket at last year's World Championships in Kazakhstan, Russia.
2017 SEA Games: OCM drops judo, canoeing, bodybuilding, triathlon and fencing17 February 2016 @ 2:32 PM
KUALA LUMPUR: The Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) have shortlisted 34 sports, comprising 342 events, for the 2017 Sea Games in Kuala Lumpur.
National sports associations have until the end of the month to appeal while countries in Southeast Asia can do so until June.
The Sea Games Federation will finalise the final number of sports in their council meeting on June 14.
The five sports dropped are judo, canoeing, bodybuilding, triathlon and fencing.
Most sports will be held in the Klang Valley with some in Putrajaya and Nilai.
