KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian Indians (MISC-MIFA) clinched their first FAM Cup title after completing a 3-1 aggregate success over the Perak State Economic Development Corporation (PKNP) in the final in Ipoh on Thursday.
Leading 1-0 from the first leg in Shah Alam on Oct 20, MISC-MIFA also won the second leg 2-1 at the Perak Stadium.
The win was just reward for coach Jacob Joseph's side after missing out on the 2015 final on goal difference.

KUALA LUMPUR: High jumper Nauraj Singh Randhawa shattered the national record to qualify for the Rio De Janeiro Olympics after winning gold at the Singapore Open on Thursday.
The two-time Sea Games gold medallist cleared 2.29 metres to match the Olympic qualifying standard while also breaking the national record of 2.27m held by Lee Hup Wei.

KUALA LUMPUR: Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim has denied reports that he plans to buy Italian Serie A club AC Milan, the Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) football club owner said in a statement on Sunday.
Singapore's Straits Times newspaper reported on Saturday that Tunku Ismail was looking to purchase the club from its current owner Silvio Berlusconi.
The report also claimed that Tunku Ismail was in the "research and discussion" stage with Milan.

KUALA LUMPUR: Kedah goalkeeper Farhan Abu Bakar proved a stumbling block for Johor Darul Ta'zim as the champions were prevented from reclaiming top spot in the Super League following a 1-1 draw in Alor Star tonight.
Farhan single-handedly provided the heroics to earn Kedah a point while Darul Ta'zim could only draw level with leaders Felda United on 21 points but trail on goal difference and having played a game more.

KUALA LUMPUR: National junior and back-up players were wiped out in the first qualifying round of the Naza Women's World Squash Championship in Bukit Jalil on Saturday.
None of the eight players in the qualifying draw managed to win a match among them with Rachel Arnold, the country's sixth highest ranked player in the world at No 63, coming the closest to pulling off an upset.
Leading 10-5 in the final game against 46th-ranked Milou van der Heijden, Rachel contrived to blow five match points in an 11-6, 11-8, 10-12, 8-11, 12-10 defeat.

KUALA LUMPUR: National coach Datuk Ong Kim Swee's worst fears were realised when Malaysia slumped to an all-time low of 174th in the latest Fifa rankings released today.
The national team fell eight rungs from No 166, surpassing the previous low of 171st where Malaysia languished as recently as February.
Malaysia paid the price for a 0-0 draw in a friendly with lowly Macau but also a 2-0 defeat inflicted by Saudi Arabia in a World Cup qualifier in March.

KUALA LUMPUR: Super League clubs Felda United and Pahang were the biggest casualties on Saturday as the FA Cup third round came to an exciting conclusion.
Both teams fell victim to lower league opposition as Premier League club Sime Darby snatched a 1-0 win over Pahang at the Darulmakmur Stadium in Kuantan while PKNS stunned Felda 3-2 after overturning 1-0 half-time deficit in Malacca.
With Sabah and Kuala Lumpur also advancing, there will be four Premier League teams in Sunday's draw for the quarter-finals.

KUALA LUMPUR: Badrul Hisyam Manap's 100 metres national record can still be ratified by the Malaysian Athletics Federation (MAF) despite the missing measuring instruments at the Asean Schools Games in Brunei last month.
New Straits Times reported on Dec 3 that MAF had expressed concern over the reliablity of the wind-gauge machine which timed Badrul's run at 10.29 seconds on Nov 23, which if ratified, would erase Watson Nyambek's mark of 10.30 from the record books.
