KUALA LUMPUR: Children must always remember and visit their parents often.

“Don’t neglect your parents as they took care of you when you were young,” said Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil.

She said there were some who seldom visit their parents and others who ignore and abandon their parents and give up the responsibility of caring for them.

In conjunction with Ramadan and the coming Aidilfitri, she also urged members of the community to be more responsible and help the underprivileged, sick and old.

“Be more responsible towards them,” she said at the Nur Hidayah and Al-Quran recital programme at Saidina Abu Bakar As-Siddiq mosque yesterday.

About 600 participants recited the Quran and later, 450 elderly and disabled people, single mothers and orphans received a Raya hamper, RM100 duit Raya, and a bag each.
