Give it your Raya best

IT is Aidilfitri and everyone should look their best. SYIDA LIZTA AMIRUL IHSAN offers some tips on how to stay fresh all day.

I could tell you the best way to look fresh is by getting a good night's rest. But the truth is, no one sleeps early on the eve of Hari Raya.
Even though preparations started from the first day of the fasting month, there's always something that needs to be done at the 11th hour.
Yes, Raya eve can be a long night and, yet for the big day, you are expected to look your best.
Here's a quick list of things you can do to make sure you look fresh and fabulous the whole day.
1. This may sound like a no brainer but begin by washing your hair tomorrow morning. There might not be enough time to air dry it, so use a hair dryer. This is especially important if you wear a tudung. Blow drying your hair might sound tedious but you won't regret it!
2. Tomorrow is not the day to skimp on moisturiser. You don't want parched skin or breakouts at the end of the day. So if you have oily skin, use oil-free moisturisers which eliminate shine yet hydrate the skin. If the skin is dry, feel free to slab on all the moisture it needs.
3. Use long-staying makeup. There will be a lot of time spent in the kitchen, by the washing basin or in front of the stove and you wouldn't want the sweat or the heat to melt your makeup. Those with oily skin can use oil-free makeup to reduce shine. Dry skin? Cosmetics with oil content help skin look dewy. Natural makeup works best, this is Raya, not Halloween.
4. For long days like these, deodorant or anti-perspirant is a must. The last thing you need to worry about tomorrow is body odour.
5. Spritz on some perfume at mid-day. It's time to refresh that scent. If you are looking for a quick way to freshen up a tired face or makeup, baby wipes will do the trick.
6. Keep a packet of facial blotters handy to wipe off excess oil from your face.
7. Don't forget your sunscreen (at least SPF 15), sunglasses or umbrella when you are out.
8. If you wear contact lenses, make sure you have eye drops ready to refresh dry eyes.
9. With so much dishwashing, your hands may need some protection. Either use gloves or apply hand cream after each marathon session.
10. At the end of the day, when all the chores are done and guests have taken their leave, treat your tired feet to a warm foot bath. If your cousins or sisters are there with you, turn this into a mini foot-spa! Have fun!
