Hotel puasa treat for orphans

KUALA TERENGGANU: Home is where the heart is, and for 10-year-old Mohd Nasrul Amir Redzuan Ha, his heart will always be at Darul Hilmi Orphanage in Teluk Ketapang near here.

The Year Four pupil of Sekolah Kebangsaan Teluk Ketapang lost his mother two years ago.

Since then, he has been shuttled back and forth from one relative to another until he was brought to the orphanage last year.

He knew at once this would be home and it did not take him long to familiarise himself and make friends.

"My father is still alive but he has not kept in touch with me after he left for Kuantan a while back. Now, during school break, I only go back to my birth place in Kelulut, Marang, to stay with my mother's uncle," he said at a breaking of fast hosted by Hotel Seri Malaysia here.
Nasrul said life had been good at the orphanage, especially since he had made many new friends and was attending school regularly.

"The best time for us is during the fasting month. We get to dress up in nice clothes and attend buka puasa at nice places like hotels and resorts.

"Last year, I was surprised to receive so many gifts such as shoes, clothes and pocket money. I am looking forward to receiving more this year." addthis_pub = 'nstonline';
