KANGAR: Long-distance bus drivers should break their fast if they become too tired while working in the month of Ramadan.
Perlis mufti Dr Mohd Asri Zainul Abidin said this was for the sake of their safety and that of their passengers.
He said the drivers were considered "travellers" and, as such, were allowed to skip fasting although they must make up for it later.
"If they become exhausted because of fasting, a situation which may endanger the lives of passengers, then it's better for them to discontinue their fast."
Several accidents involving buses, which have occurred lately, have been attributed to, among others, fatigue. - Bernama
