Forty-eight Muslim and non-Muslim children from Masjid Al-Husna and Masjid Nurul Ehsan Kampung Medan, two organisations that help single mothers, and children's home Rumah Anak Gembira were treated to a shopping spree and  haircuts at the mall in Bandar Sunway as part of its Aidilfitri celebrations.

Each child received a brand new Aidilfitri outfit, food parcels and school supplies. Before breaking fast, all of the children dressed up in their  new clothes. Those from Masjid Al-Husna and Masjid Nurul Ehsan sang  an Aidilfitri song.

"I love my new haircut. I've never had a haircut this nice," said 10-year-old Siti Nurul Natasya Zainuddin from Masjid Nurul Ehsan.

She lost her father three years ago and lives with her mother and three older brothers in Kampung Medan.

Her new friend, C. Suguneswary, also 10, was admiring herself in her new pink baju kurung. She has lived at Rumah Anak Gembira during the past year because her mother is unable to look after her.

"This is the first time I'm wearing clothes like this. I don't know what it's called, but it's pretty," she said.

And while they were enjoying their meal they had another surprise when reality television show Akademi Fantasia stars Amylea, Yazer, Candy and Aizat dropped by to visit them and sign autographs.

Sunway Pyramid's Aidilfitri celebrations, themed "A Time For Raya Reunions", which include a Ramadan bazaar, will continue till Oct 14.

On hand to welcome the children were Puan Sri Dr Susan Cheah, a member of the Sunway Group executive committee, Datin Latiffah Hashim, the wife of  Sunway Group deputy chairman Datuk Razman Hashim, Sunway Pyramid senior general manager H.C. Chan, and general manager Kevin Tan.
