I KNOW I am not going to get any peace of mind until I start writing something about this Korean actor called Bae Yong Joon. Most of his female fans know him as Jun Sang of Winter Sonata.
Now, for crying out loud, the girls and women, regardless of age, want or dream that their husbands or boyfriends could just be like him, or maybe a passing resemblance.
Bae's fame only began in 2002 after he had acted in Winter Sonata which took Asia by storm. In fact, some of his biggest fans are residing in Japan where he's affectionately known as "Yon-sama".
Since I am not Japanese I cannot elaborate on that term, but rest assured that it has something to do with Bae's "regal bearing".
I have been re-watching his video but can't find the regal bearing part but I am afraid to mention it to one ultra big fan of Bae staying in my house because I may just suffer a face-on collision with a rolled up newspaper.
What I personally think of Bae Yong Joon? Well, for a start, he is handsome. I admit so reluctantly because at one time in the very distant past, I would like to think that he resemblances me a little ... from a distance of 100 metres on a foggy morning.
In reality, Bae is 5ft 11in, which explains why he towers over his shorter co-stars in Winter Sonata. He was born on Aug 29, 1972, so that makes him 34 years old this year.
Do I hear "aiyah, miss the boat-lah!" in the background? He weighs about 48kg (148lbs). This information is exclusively for his female fans.
I don't know if he weighs more now, or less because I can't remember we having gone out for lunch together at all!
Anyway, Bae was rumoured once to have a girlfriend by the name of Lee San-gang but due to his rising popularity, his marital status is no longer considered a popular subject by his publicist. So right now, nobody knows whether he's single or attached.
I guess you can say he's still single. I really don't want to receive any hate mail. Bae's actual birth place is Mapo-gu in Seoul. His early education found him in Il-Mun Preschool and Myung-il Elementary School. According to those who knew him, he's basically a quiet boy, much like Kang Jun Sang of Winter Sonata before he suffered from memory loss.
In his teens, he studied at the Baejae Middle School and later Hanyoung High School. His tertiary education was at Sung Kyun Kwan University where he studied at the FTM (film, TV & multimedia) dept under the school of arts.
Actually, Bae went into acting first before pursuing university studies. His movie debut was in Ppilku (1994). Then, he went on to star in TV dramas like Salut D'Amour and Six Steps To Separation.
Malaysian Korean TV drama fans may have seen one of Bae's earlier appearances like First Love where he acted as Chan-woo.
Five years after he made his film debut, Bae returned to complete his education at the Sung Kyun Kwan University. After his graduation, he returned to television where he acted in the Hotelier, one of the more popular TV series.
It is the opinion of a number of his fans that Bae looks much better with long hair (again, like in Winter Sonata). Around the time when he was acting in Hotelier, Bae started growing his hair long. Perhaps this is where the "regal bearing" comes in.
Some fans have made public knowledge that his blood type is "O". I don't see the relevance of this information but every little detail is vital for his wide-ranging fans.
He is also a Roman Catholic and he loves fishing. His acting talent was noticed early in his career because shortly after he began his career, he received the Honourable Mention and Most Popular Actor award in 1996.
This was followed by Baek Sang Best Actor award in 1997 and the KBS Best Actor Award in 2002 (probably due to the immense popularity of Winter Sonata which came out in the same year.
After Winter Sonata, female fans went crazy over Bae who was reported to have caused a mini-stampede at Narita Airport in Japan on Nov 25, 2004 when he arrived for a half-day tour. Five thousand fans jammed the terminal.
In anticipation of the possible human chaos, 350 police officers and 70 anti-riot police went to the scene to control the crowd.
Consequently, the Bae mania has taught Japanese police to be more vigilant whenever he appeared in public.
The following year (2005), again in August, Bae showed up at a hospital to visit a woman patient who was suffering from cancer.
She had apparently drawn hundreds of portraits of Bae Yong Joon, such was her devotion to him.
Bae must have been informed of this woman and he paid her a visit to cheer her up in hospital. Naturally, the Press had a field day covering the event.
The Seoul Times, issue of Dec 8, 2006 (today), reported that Koreans are now enjoying the much coveted status of celebrities.
All this hooha in Japan over Korean celebrities is contributed in no small way by guys like Bae when he visited Japan the year before last. ,/p>
Even Junichiro Koizumi when he was Japan Prime Minister commented that "Yon-sama (Bae Yong Joon) is more popular than me."
The actor's popularity among Japanese women has sparked off an unusual interest in Korean culture and language among the feminine gender.
This is compounded by the sudden surge in travel packages by Japanese women to South Korea.
And who says celebrities can't contribute to the GDP of their own country? Just ask Bae Yong Joon, women-magnet extraordinaire!

I am really amazed to find out that Bae has already published volume one of his pictorial biography at the ripe "old" age of 32 in 2004. The photo biography is entitled The Image: Volume 1.
At his current rate of success, we shall be hearing more about this debonair Korean actor who apparently has visited Malaysia back in 2004. Not to say that anyone who knows about him is going to let me forget of his existence.

1..commercials WERE his 'b&b' last time but not anymore especially now that he has cut down on so many of them. his latest is not for hyundai. the latest commercial film he did was for Secom (a japanese security co.) and just recently Lotte Korea released their winter commercial shots of him.
2..his latest work 'the story of the great king & 4 gods' is a drama and he is still filming on location in Jeju, south of korea. work is expected to complete next year n to be released in spring.
3..following Winter Sonata he acted in his first movie 'Untold Scandal' as Jowon in 2003. April Snow was next in sept 2005.
4..The Image Vol. 1 is not a biography. i would call it a 'pictography' or as the title suggest...'The Image' ^^ his visit here in 2004 was not an official visit but was part of the 'The Image' project where he went on to Phuket after KL for the pics.

I am also a fan of BYJ. Met him in Winter Love Song. He is what every woman would hope to find in a man.
Yes we know its his characters that make him special, but everyone needs a fantasy.
He has eyes that show all expressions, a killer smile (even in hotelier) and a voice that wraps you in a sensual blanket of words.
It's the tone(s) of his voice and the sincerity that speaks volumes.
Just gotta love the man for all his attributes and accomplishments. Wish he could visit the states and even better the east coast.
about BYJ... it seems that we need the power to stop the time for him, so that he never get old and stay the way he is 'the most handsome "in such a way" and fond man alive'.
It just that i feel very sad that after winter sonata, there is no "BIG MEMERISED ROMANTIC" drama or films that featured him being produced. only the SCANDAL, which i dislike his character but salute him for taking a different role and APRIL SNOW, that seems like a normal drama to me.

Bae Yong Jun is perfect. In truth I do not get tired of seeing Winter Sonata.
No other Korean dramas can match Winter Sonata.
We have some of our TV dramas but none can even come close to Winter Sonata.
And the actors cannot live up to the standard set by BYJ.

For those hardcore BYT fans, the actor's latest TV drama The Legend or Tae Wang Sasingi, will only see the light of day two months from now.
That is, September. It was earlier reported that The Legend was scheduled for release in Korea in May but due to technical hitches, the release was held back.
According to sources, the CGI for that series have not been completed and further preparations had to be made to bring it up to international standards.
The Legend is supposedly a billion Kwon project and the TV drama has been slated to be screened in about 90 countries.
Such is the pulling power of Bae Yong Jun. His fans are also craving to see their favourite actor in another TV drama.

It is currently being shown over Korean TV. I believe they are into their 9th episode now.
It is also the biggest budget K-drama epic series to date. Lots of big bucks and mega CGI.

Hi, the latest Bae Yong Joon's drama is called "Tae Wang Sa Shin Gi" (Korean title). It is being aired in Korea right now. The latest episode was 9th. It is sooooo gooood!! There are several episodes uploaded on Utube. Type Tae Wang Sa Shin Gi or The Great King, or the Legend, etc. You will see some of the episodes. Bae Yong Joon looks so georgeous in this new drama, as always.
He is truly a gift from God!!

I have just finished watching his "Wang Created 4 God" and I love it but not as much with his Winter Sonata. I can't count anymore how much did I watch that Winter Sonata. Even I already have 213 Korean novela dvds I still keep on watching Winter Sonata. I even have his picture in my wallet together with my family. I cut it from one of the dvd's cover. Since I was not able to find his picture. It's just tonight that I saw his handsome pictures in one of your collection. In fact I also saw his ad in Ray ban. It's a poster actually. And I told the manager to give it to me if ever they will change it. That's how I like byj.
