Proton's Malaysian Chopper

MV Agusta may have been sold off, but this has not stopped Proton from coming up with this prototype chopper.
Powered by a 1.5 litre engine derived from a Wira - the 300kg bike was developed to test the capabilities of the company's research and development team.
It uses a five-speed gearbox which also comes from a Wira. In fact, 90 per cent of the components are sourced from cars.
The bike has a rigid frame. The front tyre is a 21-inch 80/90 while the rear is a 210/50.
The top speed is unknown, but with a four cylinder car engine in that frame, this machine will probably cruise from dusk till dawn without any problems.
Project manager Mohamad Nazrel said there were no plans yet for a production bike.
There are rumours that the team's next project will be a trike using a Campro engine.
Check out this blog later for more pictures and updates on the bike.

Hi guys,

Really, it is an awesome machine from the look of it in photo-peice. Why can't you guys come up with something more lean mean - a middle weight of around 600-650 cc and then mass produced it for the Malaysian market. Put the price right, many Malaysians "Mat motor" in the bigger cc's hopefulls like me will be able to afford one and put an end to our dream for reality. The Japanese makes in that category are beyond our reach and leaving us as just loyal "kapcais" riders with a hidden burning spirit to "live and ride".

So give it a thought please and I'm sure it will give Proton a good economy in the long run.  Thanks.

apparently, this bike has a set off, the engine looks like it has been taken from a wira and put it on the bike, it has no sense of aesthetics and industrial design. the basic form of the frame is still too basic compared to the custom modification bike from thailand or indonesia, if u look at it, proton designer just wanna fill their hand and want to get  some publicity from it. they didnt imagine hard enough, that why proton cars design look like it was taken from 10 years back.........

if u can compare the motorcycle design, it has the same criteria as a easy rider but lack of imagination, this design cannot sell......
