Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR)  is holding the Science Fair@UTAR on Friday and Saturday (9am to 5pm) to enhance the interest of students in research and development. Lincoln College, an Adelaide-based residential college in Australia, is holding its Diamond Jubilee Benefit and Reunion Dinner in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday July 7 at the Double Tree by Hilton on Jalan Tun Razak, Kuala lumpur. The Parent-Teacher Association of SMK Seafield in Jalan USJ 2/5, Subang Jaya is organising a carnival on July 8 (9am to 4pm). The event aims to raise RM250,000 for general school maintenance, upgrading of the school library and the building of a  co-curricular centre.

The CIMB Group  is offering full scholarships to  individuals from Southeast Asia to pursue full-time postgraduate degrees in the fields of Genetics and Nutrition at the world’s top graduate schools. Up to five scholarships will be awarded to cover  academic expenses.

National Academy of Arts Culture and Heritage (ASWARA) is  starting its new semester this month.  The Faculty of Dance offers diploma and degree programmes that prepare students for an exciting career in the performing arts. Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD), Brunei’s National University, is accepting applications for admission to its postgraduate programme in Asian Studies to start next year. Eligible applicants are invited to apply for the 10 postgraduate scholarships in Critical Asian Studies under the new Graduate Research Scholarship Programme. To be eligible,  a candidate must be under the age of 40, enrolled full-time on a postgraduate course and demonstrate a good academic track record.

The scholarship includes a monthly allowance of B$1,500 (RM3,600) (maximum period of three years); passage to Brunei Darussalam from and back to home country; a one-time  allowance  of B$3,000 for field research; and tuition fee waiver.  Application deadline is Dec 30 for the semester beginning August next year. Tuanku Bahiyah Residential College, University of Malaya (UM) is organising the Rakan Muda Grand Asian Chess Challenge (GACC) World Inter-Varsity Chess Championship at Dewan Tunku Canselor in UM from Thursday until July 10. Great Eastern is organising the first Yoga for Life event in support of healthier  living. The event on July 15 (10am to noon) at The Strand, Kota Damansara, Petaling Jaya  is an attempt to enter the Malaysia Book of Records with The Largest Participation in a Yoga Session with a minimum of 2,000 participants. It is  open to  the public aged 12 and above at RM20 per person. Great Eastern will donate all proceeds to the Breast Cancer Welfare Association. Association for the Advancement of Computing in Education (AACE) is organising the World Conference on E-Learning in Corporate, Government, Healthcare and Higher Education, an international event which serves as a multidisciplinary forum for the exchange of information on research, development and applications of all topics related to e-Learning in these four sectors. The seminar is at Le Centre Sheraton in Montreal, Canada from Oct 9-12. Submissions deadline for papers is Friday. Register by Sept 15 to be entitled to a discount. The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (Unesco) is supporting Airbus’ Fly Your Ideas challenge, a student contest which aims to inspire a new generation of engineers.  
The global contest has just opened  its third season and challenges students worldwide to develop new ideas for a more sustainable aviation industry. It involves three rounds with five teams to be chosen as finalists in the summer of 2013, each with the chance to win a Euro 30,000 prize.  Registration ends Nov 30.
