The Petrosains National Science Show Competition 2012 is a platform for secondary school students from Form One to Form Six to pit their skills against each other in delivering the best interactive science demonstration.

The deadline to register is tomorrow.   Young science buffs who have not signed up for the contest are invited to download the entry forms at www.petrosains.com.my

  They may enter as individual contestants or a duo, with a teacher adviser, and submit a 15-minute presentation in either English or Bahasa Malaysia on a CD.
  They will be judged based on their work/script (10 marks), Science show (25 marks), language and presentation (15 marks), Science elements (40 marks) as well as props and special effects (10 marks).
  Ten presentations will be picked to represent each zone (Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Kuantan, Johor Baru, Sabah and Sarawak).

Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) and the Malaysian National Film Development Corporation (FINAS) is organising the Ninth Malaysian Film and Video Festival from June 21-23. Themed Towards Transformation, the event promotes the development of the local film and video industry, especially among tertiary students. Programmes during the event include a seminar on film and video-making as well as an exhibition on related products. Those keen on making short films or videos are invited to send their entries. Among the categories for entry are documentary film/video and animation film/video.  Closing date is May 9. The National Academy of Arts, Culture and Heritage  (ASWARA) is organising a workshop covering Mengadap Rebab and Joget Gamelan Perang Manggun to mark  International Dance Day  today at the Main Dance Studio, ASWARA.
