‘Wow! What a stunning goal.’
What is the first thing that comes to your mind when you hear this statement? Obviously, it’s football. You know, 22 guys in tight shorts chasing after a ball. It might sound dumb, but this game has really revolutionised the whole world, especially the world of sports. There is no one on the face of the Earth who has never heard of football and the legend-making factory, also known as the football leagues. Without football, we would not know superstars such as Ronaldo
Luiz Nazario de Lima, Lionel Messi, Pele and Carles Puyol. Players such as these who make the game magnificent are respected today whether they are on or off the pitch. I know they can’t beat the fame of pop king Michael Jackson, but they are famous in their own way.
You’ll see football here, football there. Everyone knows and loves this awesome game. I, for one, support the Barclays Premier League from England. I support Malaysian Football too. The Harimau Malaya means a lot to me as a citizen of
Malaysia. However, I am constantly surrounded by English, Spanish and German League supporters—mostly English League supporters. Half of my class only discusses the English Premier League.
I think the English League is packed with action because I only watch it once in a blue moon. Most of the time, I just ask my friends for the score. Some people do not have access to watch the league matches like I do. Hence, they do not support football. I do not watch the games either, but I am still a diehard fan. We all know for a fact that football teams have many, many fans across the globe, and that is part of why it is the best game. Everyone should learn to love, respect and support this unbelievably amazing sport.
