Perak Gerakan hosts open house

Inaugural event was attended by some 2,500 guests

SOME 2,500 people from all walks of life attended the inaugural Perak Gerakan Chinese New Year Open House at the Esplanade ground recently.

At the event were Gerakan president Senator Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon, who is also minister in Prime Minister’s Department; Ministry of Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism deputy minister Datuk Tan Lian Hoe; and Perak Gerakan chairman Datuk Chang Ko Youn.

Tan, in her speech, said because this is the year of the water dragon, all Malaysians “should be energetic so that the economy of the country would flourish”.

Pupils from SJK(C) Hua Lian II Taiping entertained the guests with Malay, Chinese, Indian and Dayak dances.

The children each  received ang pow from the Perak Gerakan leadership.
