Proud to be one

Marilyn Monroe, Barrack Obama, Rafael Nadal, Prince William and I all belong to a special club: we are all left-handers.

Left-handers are one of the most intellectual people in the world even though some people might classify lefties as ill-omened, clumsy and awkward. Did you know the right half of the brain controls the left part of the body? This proves that only lefties are actually in their right mind!

The funniest thing that ever happened to me as a left-hander was when I locked the front door of the house and was scolded the next day because no one could open the door due to the way I had locked it. While my mum was scolding me, I actually burst out laughing because it was so funny that the way I had locked a door could get me into so much trouble. Well that is one hilarious aspect of the lifestyle lefties lead.

Another hilarious moment I had was in primary school when my teacher asked us to cut out a piece of paper. I thought it was going to be easy since, when I looked around the classroom, no one else seemed to have a problem. Then, I picked up the scissors. That’s when I realised these scissors weren’t designed for lefties. I struggled to cut the paper, and even though I finished last, the cutting was still not straight. It was the most crooked piece of paper I have seen. Ever since that day, I will always stick to my best friend — the ruler — or my left-handed scissors to handle all my cutting work for me.

As lefties, we go through many obstacles, but we pull through in this stunning world of ours. I am very glad that my dear parents did not decide to change the way I am when they found out I was a lefty. They were proud to accept me for who I am and did not change the way that God had presented me to them.
