My brother and I went on a trip to the newly built Raja Tun Uda Library, which is located in Seksyen 14, Shah Alam.
We went with my father’s colleagues and their children. It was the most beautifully constructed library I have ever seen, and it was way better than our national library. The library was gifted by the Sultan of Selangor in 2005 in commemoration of Selangor becoming a developed state. It was more than just an ordinary library like others I have visited.
This library is massive with five floors full of books. It was like book heaven. As I entered, I saw many iMac computers available for use at a charge of RM1 per hour. We went to the library’s auditorium for a briefing on the library. After that, we went to a place called Kid’s Zone in another part of the building. Kid Zone is full of children’s books, and there is an artificial tree in the middle of the room where children can sit down and read the books that they’ve picked. The room also has a Wii game console that can be used for 50 sen per hour. At one end of Kid’s Zone is an activity room where you can read the news from a television screen into a microphone and watch yourself on another television screen. It was like being an anchorman.
The best part of the library is the 6D theatre. There is also a mini 3D theatre. You can choose to watch any of the four movies available in the 6D theatre. My brother and I chose the Canyon Coaster. After the movie, which lasted a mere 6 minutes, our group moved on to have lunch at the library’s outdoor cafeteria. Situated beside a marvellous lake, the cafeteria was huge and beautifully decorated. The food tasted just as good as it looked. After a hearty meal, we left for the building’s entrance. After taking some photographs, we boarded the company’s bus and went back home with happiness in our hearts and sweet memories of the trip.
