Boutique owner puts up fight with robbers

KOTA KINABALU: Two machete-weilding robbers underestimated a woman when they held up her boutique in Kingfisher park near here today.

The victim, Norezai Awang Sham, gave them a run for the money.

She took them by surprise when she put up a fight with the armed duo in the 12.30pm incident.

In the scuffle that ensued, the 36-year-old daughter of Sandakan Umno deputy chief Datuk Awang Sham Amit sustained injuries in the hands.

Despite her gallant effort, the intruders overpowered Norezai and her staff before ransacking the outlet and robbing the boutique owner of a handbag containing RM2,500, mobile phone, jewellery and personal documents.

City police chief ACP Ahmad Sofi Zakaria said the robbers locked Norezai and her staff in a room before escaping in her Perodua Myvi.

He said Norezai sought out-patient treatment at the Likas Hospital. - Bernama
