Cheras drug lab busted

KUALA LUMPUR: City police busted a drug lab in Taman Maluri, Cheras here on Wednesday, several hours after they nabbed four suspected pushers in the area.

 

Initial investigations revealed that the lab, which was being operated from an apartment unit, was used to produce methamphetamine.
It was believed to be in operations since early this year.
 
City police deputy chief Datuk Amar Singh said a team from the Cheras police narcotics unit arrested four local youths, between the  ages of 21 and 25 at Taman Segar, Cheras about 2.20pm.
 
Checks on their Proton Persona found two packets of ketamine weighing about 1.2kg. It had a street value of RM35,000.
 
“At about 5pm the same day, one of the suspects led police to the lab at the apartment. Several chemicals were found in the apartment and we are now trying to ascertain how big was their operation,” Amar said.
 
All four suspects have been remanded to facilitate investigations.
 
Earlier on the same day, another team of officers from the same unit seized 4.9kg methamphetamine worth RM750,000 from a local man in Bukit Bintang.
