    Come out from comfort zone, Rosmah tells women

    IPOH: Wife of Prime Minister Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor on Sunday called on women to be brave to change their mindset and come out from their comfort zone.

    “Women are highly influential, and if their potential is fully optimised, they can be prime movers of the economy.

    “Just like the saying goes, the hand that rocks the cradle rules the world.

    “But first they must be prepared to come to the fore front and be the catalyst to push the country forward," she said in her speech at the opening of Perak Women Mutiara awards ceremony here on Sunday night.

    Also present were wife of Perak Menteri Besar and Baiduri chairman Datin Seri Saripah Zulkifli, state Women Affairs committee chairman Datuk Hamidah Osman and Woman, Family and Community Development deputy minister Datuk Heng Seai Kie.

    The ceremony, held for the first time was to honour women who had excelled in their fields. The highlight of the award was Women of True Beauty honour which was presented by Rosmah to activist and social worker, dermatologist Datuk Dr M. Majumder, who is also president of Perak Society for the Promotion of Mental Health.

    The  other awards are Vision Award, Women of Inspiration Award and special category awards.

    A total of 21 recipients in each category received their awards.

    “Women in Malaysia can be proud as access to education and job opportunities are easy. The change in the socio-culture has also enabled them to move progressively and contribute to the country’s development.”

    Rosmah also reminded women on the importance of cooperation and networking among their peers as this would have a better impact than working alone.

    “If you are not networking, then your net is not working,” she added.
