DBKL, cops watch over Ambiga's house

KUALA LUMPUR -- Police and the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) enforcement unit today patrolled the residence of Datuk S. Ambiga at Jalan Setiakasih 1, Bukit Damansara here.

Two DBKL vans with 10 enforcement officers and a police patrol car were seen keeping watch over the area this afternoon and as of 7pm, there were no peddlers or groups at the location.

Ambiga, alleged to be among organisers of the rally on April 28, in the federal capital which later turned violent, lodged a police report on May 10, after a group of peddlers gathered and opened a burger stall in front of her house to express their anger over losses suffered as a result of the rally.

Brickfields police chief ACP Wan Abdul Bari Wan Abdul Khalid when contacted by Bernama here today said the surveillance was a normal procedure in crime prevention.

When asked whether police would detain individuals who caused disturbance to Ambiga, he said it would depend on the provision of the law. -- Bernama
