PETALING JAYA: The 13th General Elections will see convergent news coverage by Media Prima Group (MPB) in a concerted effort to provide the latest and accurate election updates accessible anywhere, anytime via digital, print, television and radio networks all over the country.
"We aim to be the first to deliver no matter from which medium readers or viewers choose to get it from and it will be accessible 24-7 complete with live streamings throughout the nomination and polling period," said Nicholas Sagau Tony Ngimat, Head of product and animation of Media Prima Digital.
The election website, called MyUndi, is ready to support the predicted heavy traffic during the duration of the nomination and polling and cater to the needs of the new generation people who wants news at the tip of their hands any time of the day," he added in an interview at Sri Pentas, Bandar Utama today.
Special talk shows and extensive news coverage will be showcased through Media Prima Berhad’s (MPB) television, radio, print and as well as the digital media platforms to cater to the public.
Among the special programmes that will be aired are ‘Mandat 2013’ (TV3), ‘Malaysia Votes GE13’ and ‘View points@7’ (NTV7), ‘8TV Mandarin News “General Election- 13 Special” (8TV), ‘Malam PRU’ and ‘Chat PRU13@9’ (TV9).
MPB group editor, news and current affairs for television and radio networks, Datuk Manja Ismail said the special programmes, which will air beginning Apr 20, will highlight issues on elections and analysis from prominent figures.
“The shows will include discussions on hot topics and live crossovers from on-the-ground reporters, to provide the viewers with well-rounded coverage of the elections,” he said during the press conference.
Manja added that ‘Mandat 2013’, hosted by MPB chairman Datuk Johan Jaafar, MPB executive director (news and editorial operations), and himself, will be broadcasted live at 9 p.m. on nomination day (Apr 20) and from as early as 6 p.m. to keep the audience updated during polling day (May 5).
“’Malam PRU’ and ‘Chat PRU13@9’ is catered to attract the younger viewers, where it will be hosted by young and upcoming faces and highlighting issues that concerns the younger generation.
“Our radio networks, Hot FM, Fly FM and One FM will also have daily crossovers and live results, while maintaining their own production style,” he said.
Also present at the press conference were MPB group managing editor, news and current affairs, television networks and radio, Datuk Shaharudin Abd Latif and group general manager, news operations television and radio networks, Sofwan Mahmood.
