    House break-in cases solved with arrest of 5 men

    KUALA LUMPUR: Police have solved at least 10 house break-in cases with the arrest of five men recently at a budget hotel in Desa Serdang and a house in Bandar Mahkota Cheras.

     

    Kajang police chief Assistant Commissioner Ab Rashid Ab Wahab said the thieves had, on Aug 8, broken into a double-storey house in Bandar Damai Perdana where they escaped with valuables including a Honda Civic.
     
    On Sunday, police received a tip-off that the Honda Civic had been spotted at a budget hotel in Desa Serdang.
     
    A police team raided the hotel at about 6am and arrested three men. They also found passports, an oxy-acetylene torch and several pawn shop receipts.
     
    In a follow-up operation, police raided a house in Bandar Mahkota Cheras where they found various house break-in tools, several televisions, laptops, passports and jewellery believed to be stolen loot. They also found an undisclosed amount of cash from the two suspects who were in the house.
     
    The suspects, aged between 29 and 61, were remanded until August 25 to facilitate investigations. It is learnt that the 61-year-old suspect has eight previous convictions for various crimes.
     
    Ab Rashid said the gang had been active since Nov last year and were responsible for at least 10 house break-ins in Kajang.
